Comments or additions to the name "Lipschitz"

My paternal grandfather emigrated through New Jersey as "Anthony Morris Lipschitz" (I'm not 100% sure of his middle name) & they asked him what last name he would like to use & he opened a phone book & picked the name "Croll" because being Ashkenazi Jewish was frowned upon. He & all siblings changed their names & I only know 1, it was his brother & he chose "Crystal" & I think they ended up in Texas. How my grandfather got to New Orleans, LA is a mystery to me.
With all of them changing their last names it was quite difficult to reunite but, if my memory serves me correctly, at some point they did reunite & kept in touch thereafter. His parents were burned alive at Auschwitz & I do not know what their names were.
