Unexpected Discoveries from my iGENEA DNA test: Exploring the Surprising Origins of the Hardman Surname

Family name Hardman

After conducting my iGENEA DNA test, I discovered that my surname, Hardman, is not only rooted in Anglo-Saxon and Scandinavian regions but is also tied to unexpected zones in Eastern Europe. This fascinating revelation has broadened my perspective towards my familial heritage.

I recently completed my iGENEA DNA test and the results were rather surprising. It turns out my family name, Hardman, has roots in regions I had no idea were part of our history. The name, which I always assumed was of Anglo-Saxon descent, actually bears an undeniable link to Scandinavia, hinting at Viking ancestry. Areas in the British Isles, primarily in the North, where I was aware of our family's history, also showed up strongly in my DNA. There are pockets of Hardman heritage in Eastern Europe, primarily in regions associated with Slavic peoples, which completely took me by surprise. These previously unknown aspects of my family history have unfolded a new sense of understanding in me.

J. Hardman
