Peeling Back the Layers of the Hammerle Surname Through the iGENEA DNA Test: A Review

Family name Hammerle

Dig into an insightful review that travels the bloodline of the surname Hammerle via the iGENEA DNA Test. Uncover a tale both personal and historical that weaves in deep ancestry, geographical origins, and intriguing genetic facts.

Embarking on a journey that intertwined DNA analysis and surname calling, my experience with iGENEA was engaging and quite informative. iGENEA testing procedure was straightforward and hassle-free, and in a few weeks, I was handed my results, a library of my bloom of roots.

My surname, Hammerle, is a preview to a German/Austrian ancestry, but this DNA test opened up a broader perspective to this. Tracing back, the test showed a deep origin in Central Europe, dating back to at least the early Middle Ages with a predominantly Bavarian alignment. This proved that the Hammerle’s have been part of the German-speaking world for centuries, contributing to the ethnic diversity of Central Europe.

An even more fascinating discovery was their strong association with the Y-Haplogroup R1b, commonly found in Western Europe. More surprisingly, I found out that this is the same Y-Haplogroup of Otzi the Ice Man, the well-preserved natural mummy of a man who lived around 3300 BC. That means I share a common male ancestor with this prehistoric man, deepening my sense of historical lineage' richness.

But the iGENEA experience did not stop with paternal lineage demographics. It created an opportunity to connect with others with the same surname in search of shared ancestry. The Family Finder feature consequently became a network of discovery as it introduced me to a variety of Hammerle’s spread across the world.

Through this rich and diverse group, I've been able to make connections with others who share my paternal lineage and surname, leading to fascinating exchanges about shared and disparate family histories. For instance, one encounter led to a discovery of a possible shared direct paternal ancestor who lived in the 1700s in Bavaria.

Overall, the iGENEA DNA test was an incredible source to unravel and retrace the roots of the Hammerle identity. It was an enlightening experience that did not only dissect the scientific constituents of my genealogy but also broadened my perception of ancestry and family connection.

I. Hammerle
